Thomas Cook acquired by Poland based eSky Group
Thomas Cook is being sold to Poland based eSky Group.
eSky Group confirmed it has inked an acquisition agreement with current Cook owner Fosun Tourism Group.
This will allow eSky Group to strengthen its position in Western Europe, the prospective new owner says.
The deal sees the sale of all Thomas Cook brand assets except those in China for an undisclosed sum.
The deal will provide the Thomas Cook brand with access to eSky’s flight inventory and will support its continued growth.
The new online Thomas Cook brand launched in September 2020, ten months after its acquisition by Fosun Tourism Group.
Fosun also owns Club Med.
eSky Group was founded 20 years ago, and has a major presence in the travel space in Central and Eastern Europe.
The eSky and eDestinos brands operate in more than 50 countries across Europe, the Americas and Africa.
It has processed bookings for 150 million customers and aggregates content from over 550 airlines globally and 1.3 million hotels.
The synergy of Thomas Cook’s brand heritage with our technology will drive Thomas Cook’s growth and allow us to strengthen eSky’s position in Western Europe,” said Łukasz Habaj, co-founder and CEO of the eSky Group.
This acquisition is part of our strategy to diversify from just selling flights to offering package holidays across our existing markets in Europe and Latin America.”
The company is based in Katowice, Poland and has a workforce of over 800 employees.
In recent years eSky has invested the most in developing city break and holiday packages.
As part of the deal, Thomas Cook, led by CEO Alan French will continue to operate under the Thomas Cook name.
