Thomas Cook Airlines will launch the first non-stop flights from the UK to Reno on Lake Tahoe next year.

The twice-weekly flights from London Gatwick will serve skiers travelling to resorts in Lake Tahoe, as well as gamblers heading to the Reno area casinos.

The programme begins on December 19 2015 and runs until April 9 2016.

The airline has also announced new 2015/16 flights to Holguin and Varadero in Cuba from Glasgow Airport and an extension of its Las Vegas service into the winter season.

Operating on the airline’s Airbus A330 fleet, the Las Vegas flights will operate on November 15, April 8 and 10.

Fights to Holguin will operate on December 29 and January 26, while one flight will also operate to Varadero on January 8.
