Thomas Cook launches pre-order duty free on flights
Thomas Cook Airlines has launched a trial of its pre-order duty-free service for UK passengers.
A range of 1,500 products sold at between 20% and 65% below high street prices can be ordered online up to 30 days before departure.
The purchases are delivered straight to the customer’s seat on board the aircraft and on the outbound flight more can even be pre-ordered for delivery on the return flight.
Christoph Debus, chief hotels and airlines officer for Thomas Cook, said: "Duty-free shopping is one of those great holiday treats that has only ever been available at the airport or on board.
"But Airshoppen gives Thomas Cook Airlines’ customers the chance to experience that holiday excitement in the comfort of their own home before they’ve even started packing. It gives them the opportunity to plan their purchase well in advance with no stress at the airport or risk of sold out goods on board – it is the perfect start to a perfect holiday."
The Airshoppen product range includes perfume, cosmetics, skincare, spirits and boutique.
Passengers will be reimbursed if they find the products they purchased at a lower price in UK airports.
The scheme has operated in Scandinavia since 1987 and Thomas Cook Airlines extended the service to Germany in November 2014.
It is now available to all UK customers, with the first deliveries due on board flights on January 12, 2016.
