Three tourists killed in Costa Rica boat accident
An investigation has been launched after three elderly tourists, including a British man, were killed when a boat capsized in Costa Rica.
The catamaran, carrying 99 passengers and 10 crew, was taking tourists to the Tortuga Island, on the country’s Pacific Coast, when it was hit by strong winds and high waves.
The other victims were a 68-year-old woman from the US and a 70-year-old Canadian woman. The British man was 80.
All others on the boat were rescued. According to reports, they were handed lifejackets shortly before the boat sank nine miles offshore from the Punta Leona beach resort
The incident happened at 9am local time on Thursday.
