TNQ – coming to a travel outlet near you
CAIRNS – The biggest ever Tourism Tropical North Queensland roadshow is on the move.
It’s called the “WhatisTNQ Roadshowâ€, (www.whatistnq.com.au) and on its 6000km round trip from Cairns to Melbourne it is calling in at more than 30 major towns and cities.
The roadshow is now entering its two-week trade phase.
A group of major tourism operators from the Cairns region, along with representatives of Tourism Tropical North Queensland, flew to Melbourne and set off by road this week to visit more than 50 travel agents, industry decision makers and opinion formers across Victoria, NSW and Queensland.
The trade roadshow has the main objective of reinforcing Tropical North Queensland as a must-experience destination for the travel industry to promote and book.
Roadshow participants will also be dispelling the myth that Cairns is not accessible at this time of the year, and reinforcing that tourism operators in the region are well and truly open for business
Chief executive of Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Rob Giason, said the WhatisTNQ Roadshow was the most ambitious project Tourism Tropical North Queensland had undertaken outside of Cairns.
Giason said that with much of Australia gripped by heat waves and droughts, Tropical North Queensland had been experiencing its annual wet season with welcome rainfall that is necessary to maintain the magnificent Daintree Rainforest, the world’s oldest tropical rainforest.
He added that there had never been a better time to book a holiday to Tropical North Queensland because of cheap airfares and fantastic accommodation deals available.
“By booking a holiday to our region, consumers will of course also be helping the Australian economy by holidaying at home instead of overseas,†he said.
