Wholesale travel brokerage Tourico Holidays has expanded its long term distribution agreement with the iconic Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan by committing to block-buy a quarter of its room availability through the end of 2016.
"Tourico and Hotel Pennsylvania have been distribution partners for the last 20 years, but this agreement marks the largest single hotel commitment in our company’s history," said Dermot Quigley, executive vice president of global product development at Tourico.
"Our ability to support one of the largest hotels in New York City with significant daily occupancy numbers is a testament to our unparalleled distribution network."
The hotel, which dates to 1919, is the third largest in New York City with 1,700 rooms.
Tourico says it already has confirmed sales for the fourth quarter of 2016 at 100% more than a year ago.
"Tourico was well ahead of its competitors, becoming the first to pre-buy hotel room blocks in 1995 and, two decades later, we are still innovating," Quigley said.
New York City has consistently been Tourico’s top earning destination since the company began in 1994.
Fasting growing source markets for New York stays include China which has grown 170% year over year and Australia which is up 200%.
