Tourism Authority of Thailand targets eight million tourists
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is targeting at least eight million international visitors this year. The revised outlook comes as Thailand is set to drop PCR testing.
This is expected to become effective next month if the government approves it at meeting after the long Songkran holiday.
The Thailand Pass system for international arrivals could also be scrapped.
Yuthasak said the TAT may propose removing the requirement for foreign visitors to have travel insurance.
Per TAT data, Thailand welcomed about 440,000 international visitors during the first three months of 2022, a 30% increase on the previous quarter.
