Tourism businesses ordered to play local Filipino songs
Lawmakers in the Philippines ‘House of Representatives approved a bill which effectively gives tourists a constant soundtrack of Filipino music wherever they go.
Bill 10305 seeks to showcase the country’s music to foreign visitors.
At least half of all music played on flights must be local. It also applies on all tourist buses, while the playlists of all hotels and restaurants must be at least 25% Filipino music.
Failure to do so could lead to P300,000 fines for company directors.
