Tourism summit discusses London recovery
A special event aimed at helping London tourism recover from last month’s terrorist attacks has been organised by The Tourism Network
Representatives from hotels, attractions, various areas of London and sightseeing operators are due to meet on board Bateaux London’s vessel Naticia at Embankment Pier on August 31.
Organised on a voluntary basis by The Tourism Network, the aim of the event is to help London’s tourism businesses help themselves.
The meeting will be in two parts – a marketing workshop offering new approaches and alternatives to the “seemingly inevitable” discount promotions and a brainstorming session to come up with ideas and suggestions for use by anyone in the industry.
Representatives from other organisations like Visit London have been invited so they can also benefit.
The Tourism Network director Susan Briggs said: “Our intention is not to ‘rock the boat’ and either interfere or criticise official sources of support such as the tourist board. They have offered crisis management advice and are about to launch new campaigns.
“But many businesses also need more practical help in the form of marketing advice. We will also gather together views and ideas for use by the tourist boards”.
