Tourist killed by land mine in Myanmar
A tourist was killed after a land mine exploded near a popular hiking spot in Myanmar.
Tim Geibler, aged 40, was on a motorbike when he rode over the land mine near Hsipaw in Shan province.
An Argentinian woman was also slightly injured but has since been released from hospital.
Although close to the hiking trail, police said the area was off-limits due to land mines.
A spokesman for Hsipaw Social Volunteers Without Borders group said the German died on the spot from injuries to his chest, waist and leg.
There were 430 landmine casualties in Myanmar in 2018.
