Tourists stabbed in Jordan
Four foreign tourists and a tour guide were among eight people stabbed in Jerash in Jordan yesterday while they were visiting the popular Roman ruins.
Three of those stabbed are Mexicans, one is Swiss and four are Jordanians. Their attacker has since been arrested by police.
The victims were taken to hospital where two of them, a Mexican and a Jordanian, are in a serious condition.
A video purported to have been shot immediately after the stabbings showed a woman lying face-first on the ground while others pressed a scarf to an apparent wound in her back.
A woman’s voice was heard shouting in Spanish: "There’s been a stabbing. They’ve got a knife! Please help him here! Please!"
The attack happened close to midday when the site, one of Jordan’s most popular tourist attractions, had around 100 visitors.
