Transmetro appoints George Bedwani as COO
Transmetro Corporation has announced the appointment of Australian iconic hotelier George Bedwani as Chief Operations Officer, with as COO of Transmetro Corporation Limited, George will be taking on responsibility for the management of Metro Hotel Group’s 11 properties throughout Australia, as well as the Paddy Maguires chain of four Irish and English theme pubs in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.
His new role will also incorporate the General Manager position of Metro Hotel on Pitt (Sydney) and Metro Hotel Sydney Central.
Prior to taking up his new position this month, Mr Bedwani was General Manager of the prestigious Cypress Lakes Resort, Hunter Valley.
His extensive hospitality management experience includes senior positions as General Manager of Stamford Hotels in Adelaide, General Manager of the Hotel InterContinental in Sydney and Group General Manager of Accor’s three main hotels at Sydney’s Darling Harbour – Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour, Ibis Darling Harbour and Grand Mercure One Darling Harbour.
Announcing the COO appointment Transmetro Chairman John McEvoy said he was confident George Bedwani “will drive growth both in terms of performance and acquisition opportunities.”

“George Bedwani has proved he can successfully manage different properties with diverse positioning under the one brand and he is well credentialed to manage our continuing and future growth.”
