Travel chaos looms in Greece
Travellers face two days of chaos in Greece with a 48-hour general strike due to begin on Tuesday.
Trade unions are protesting about austerity measures forced on PM George Papandreou’s government
On Monday, the PM said only his 28 billion-euro austerity programme would get Greece back on its feet, but he needs to convince parliament that the measures will work.
More than 5,000 police officers are due to be deployed in the centre of Athens on Tuesday morning, when tens of thousands of striking workers are expected to march towards parliament.
The general strike will disrupt or halt most public services.
Airports will be shut for hours at a time, with air traffic controllers joining the walkouts.
Ferries, buses and trains will also stop running.
