Travel industry irked at ‘expensive and unnecessary’ testing
Summer holidays overseas can resume this summer but the industry is far from happy. The imposition of a post-arrival PCR tests will put off many potential holidaymakers due to the cost and hinder a travel recovery, according to brands including easyJet and TUI.
They have called out the logic in requiring expensive PCR testing even when returning from low risk countries. The government should consider affordable testing options such as lateral flow tests as part of the framework.
The government has acknowledged PCR tests are expensive and is working on ways to help reduce costs.
