Travel salaries hit new two-and-a-half year high

Thursday, 18 Dec, 2015 0

Travel salaries for those in standard roles rose 4.42% in November to reach the highest level since February 2013.

The salary for positions paying up to £40,000 increased to an average of £22,783.

Overall, the average salary rose to £25,855, the second highest total of 2015.

There was also a rebound in salaries for executive travel roles  paying above £40,000,  with increased levels of activity indicating that the market is picking up after a quiet few months, said recruitment agency C&M.

"This is the strongest set of monthly figures that we have seen in some time with travel salaries rising across the board – from entry-level positions all the way up to senior and executive roles," said director Barbara Kolosinska.

"What’s most impressive is that wages for typical travel jobs have risen again and have now increased in six of the past seven months. We’re also delighted to see an increase in both the number of senior roles being made available and the salaries being offered. It’s been a quiet late summer and autumn period for executive travel positions, but the signs indicate that things are now picking up."

However, the  number of candidates looking for new roles in November fell  to its lowest level since December 2013.   Similarly, there was a lack of new travel jobs being made available, with November marking the fourth dip in the past five months.
