Travelport has established a new tech division building on two acquisitions it made last year.
The firm acquired Mobile Travel Technologies (MTT) and travel management platform Locomote in 2015 and has launched Travelport Digital incorporating the two new businesses.
According to Chief commercial officer Stephen Shurrock, Travelport Digital ‘will play an important role as we look to develop a comprehensive range of digital products and services with today’s ever-connected, mobile-savvy customers in mind.’
"We know we need to do this to support the growth plans of our OTA, travel agency, corporate and travel content provider customers," he added.
The division will be led by Travelport executive Bryan Conway.
"Bryan is very well placed to head up this organisation as he has already been working very closely with the teams involved and has extensive knowledge and experience of the needs of today’s global travel industry."
Travelport has also created a new customer and marketing organisation, which will be headed up by Fiona Shanley, who joins from Microsoft later this month.
Shanley will lead all Travelport’s marketing and communications functions to ‘address customers’ experience and address their unmet needs,’ Travelport said.
