Tributes paid to Explore co-founder Derek Moore

Adventure travel pioneer Derek Moore, has passed away

Moore co-founded Explore in 1981 and became pre-eminent in the adventure travel market.

He was a former AITO chair

Tributes poured in from ‘Explore apprentices’ who learnt their trade under Derek.

Ashley Toft, now CEO of AITO member KE Adventure Travel said; “It was a privilege to have worked with Derek and so great that he was still involved in AITO.

He was a legend to many AITO  members and others in travel.

Latterly, he wrote a fascinating book about his life in travel and he also set up the Derek Moore Foundation charity,

Martyn Sumners, AITO Executive Director said: “He was more than happy to share his knowledge and experience.  He loved AITO with such a passion
