Tributes paid to industry accountant

Friday, 24 February 20173 min read

Tributes have been paid to travel industry accountant Andrew Burnham, who died yesterday after a long illness.

He was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2015 and underwent treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

He continued working as a partner at MacIntyre Hudson until late last year

Fellow industry accountant Chris Photi at White Hart Associates said: "Andrew was a lovely man. He was a good friend of mine and a worthy, reliable and committed fellow travel professional. He was also immensely good fun socially and I shall miss him greatly.

"Andrew was cricket mad and worked hard to set up the annual charity travel cricket match. This takes place each year between MacIntyre Hudson and White Hart Associates each year. In excess of £10,000 has been raised for charity through this match.

"It will continue each year and will become Andrew’s legacy as WHA will commission The Andrew Burnham Trophy to be played for annually."

Andrew had 20 years experience dealing with the specialist requirements of the travel and tourism sector.

An active participant at travel seminars, he was fellow of the Institute of Travel & Tourism and was an associate member of ABTA.

He also sat on the Tourism & Hospitality Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.

He had particular experience in the technology sector and has successfully helped companies get listed.
