TSA probes how man with knife and no ticket walked through airport screening
The TSA at Baltimore Airport has begun an internal review after a man walked through passenger screening without a ticket.
Even more worrying is that he was carrying a knife.
John Edward Hill, Jr., 23 was eventually apprehended after trying to open a door at a gate in the airport’s international terminal.
He was then found to be carrying a knife and is facing multiple charges.
These include interfering with security procedures, tampering with security systems, entering a restricted area without authorization and possession of unauthorized weapons prohibited in an airport.
Authorities say there was no terror-related motive but Hill is not cooperating with investigators.
"We’re not quite sure what he was trying to do. There’s no nexus to terrorism here, I want to make that clear," said Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman Edward Bartlinski.
"A review of this event determined that the individual intentionally circumvented the ticket document checking station," Farbstein said. "Immediate measures were taken to review the techniques of the TSA officers who were working at the checkpoint," said TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein.
