The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says the issue over vaccination rates for TSA officers won’t impact holiday weekend flights.
The agency said 93% were vaccinated or had a valid exemption ahead of this week’s federal employee vaccine mandate.
"The employee vaccine mandate will not impact holiday travel. Happy Thanksgiving," TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein tweeted.
It was reported that only 60% of TSA personnel were vaccinated a month ago.
The TSA is expecting crowded airports for Thanksgiving as it projects a return to pre-pandemic levels.
Airlines have also reported high passenger loading although have been cautious not to schedule too many extra flights due to still relatively low staffing levels.
