TRAVEL AND TOURISM MARKETING ASSOCIATION HONORS
LOS ANGELES COUNCILMEMBER TOM LABONGE
AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD
Los Angeles, CA (June 11,2006) – The Travel and Tourism Marketing Association is honoring the elected representative of the Fourth Council District, Tom LaBonge, with the Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award and Universal Studios with the Travel and Tourism Marketing Association’s Landmark Award.
The awards ceremony, chaired by Jean-Pierre Gaspar, will be held Thursday, September 27th, 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at The Universal Globe Theatre in Universal City/North Hollywood, CA.
TTMA is honoring Tom LaBonge for the endless support he has provided to the tourism industry of Los Angeles. LaBonge has had a lifelong love for Griffith Park and has been one of its greatest champions. LaBonge, informally known as “Mr. Los Angeles” has also been active in the revitalization of the Los Angeles River.
Universal Studios is being awarded with the TTMA Landmark Award because it is a unique and indispensable component of Southern California’s tourism product. Universal Studios Hollywood is the original Universal Studios theme park, created initially to offer tours of the real Universal Studios soundstages and sets.
The Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award and the TTMA Landmark Award were created to honor leaders in the travel and tourism industry. The Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award is awarded to individuals whose direction and vision have made a lasting impact on the travel and tourism industry. The TTMA Landmark Award was created to publicly acknowledge important tourism landmarks representing vital and dynamic examples of historically and culturally significant places, which play an important role in Southern California tourism.
