TUI has reported a rise in late bookings for Turkey as it announced its third quarter financial results today.
The travel giant said following a dip in demand in 2016 it had scaled back its Turkey programme for this summer, but late bookings ‘reflect a renewed popularity of Turkey and North African destinations’.
Overall, bookings in the UK remain ‘as high’ as last year despite the weak pound.
TUI gave a bookings overview as it unveiled an increase in underlying EBITA of 18.7% to €191 million and turnover growth of 16.4% to €4.94 billion for the three months to June.
TUI Group CEO Fritz Joussen said: "2016/17 will be another good year for TUI Group. We are delivering growth and reiterating our guidance.
"We expect turnover growth of more than three per cent, our underlying operating result is expected to grow by at least ten per cent in the full year."
He said for the first time the group has delivered a positive operating result for the first nine months of a financial year.
"TUI is in excellent shape about to fulfil its objectives," he added.
Joussen said the rebranding to TUI has strengthened the business both ‘at the global and local levels’.
The UK will be the last market to roll out the rebranding in autumn 2017.
"We will then consistently operate under the TUI brand in all source markets," said Joussen.
