TUI UK announces new board
TUI has ousted five directors following a complete restructure of the UK board.
Specialist Holidays Group (SHG) managing director David Rowe is leaving the company and will be replaced in the short term by TUI UK chief financial officer Will Waggott. Mr Rowe joined TUI when Crystal Holidays became part of the Thomson Travel Group in 1989.
The second director that is leaving the company is TUI UK’s finance director Fred Stratford, who joined the company 15 years ago. His team now reports to Mr Waggott.
TUI UK marketing director Hugh Edwards also lost his job in the reshuffle. He joined as marketing director in January 2000 and leaves a team that will now report to the newly appointed sales and marketing director, Miles Morgan.
Sonia Davies, who is about to have her second child, has lost her post of communications director for TUI UK. She leaves behind Rachel O’Reilly in the communications team.
Finally, TUI UK sales director Iain Fenton, will also leave. He joined TUI UK in 1998 following the acquisition of Magic Travel. He was central to the launch of SHG and leaves a team behind that will report to their relevant business unit managing directors.
The reshuffle follows meetings between Peter Rothwell and all TUI UK directors. The aim of the reshuffle is to bring all the UK businesses onto the same board reporting to Mr Rothwell.
The roles reporting to Mr Rothwell, in addition to those held by Mr Waggott, Mr Morgan and Britannia managing director Kevin Hatton are: Planning and Development, Colin Mitchell; Planning and Trading, David Burling; Contracting, David Harper; and Customer Operations, Lee Ormesher.
Jim Mann continues as chief information officer and Derek Jones takes the role of Retail and Commercial director.
