Two Americans found dead at luxury Mexico hotel
Two American tourists have been found dead in their hotel room in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
The man and woman were found unresponsive at the Hotel Rancho Pescadero and later confirmed dead.
The victims are John Heathco, 41, and Abby Lutz, 22, the Baja California Sur Attorney General’s Office said.
It said Lutz was a resident of Newport Beach, California.
The deaths were deemed ‘intoxication by substance to be determined.’
Carbon monoxide inhalation is suspected.
When found they had been dead for several hours.
Hotel Rancho Pescadero is a luxury resort operated by Hyatt.
Hyatt hasn’t commented yet.
A number of American guests have died or suffered carbon monoxide exposure in Mexico hotels in recent years.
Most recently, three Americans died of carbon monoxide poisoning at a rented Airbnb in Mexico.
