A British tourist has been fined £3,000 after he pulled down his trousers and defecated on the runway of an Italian airport after disembarking from a Ryanair flight.

The 68-year-old had flown from Manchester to Brindisi in southern Italy and the incident happened as he walked from the aircraft to the terminal building.

When confronted by the Italian border police, he was described as being ‘in a state of mild agitation’, reported Mail Online.

Ryanair said: “An individual was detained by local police at Brindisi Airport on September 30. This is a matter for local police.”

A second British tourist has also been charged this week at Brindisi of failing to comply with safety standards after trying to leave a Thomas Cook aircraft while it was being refueled.

Passengers on the flight, which had been diverted while en route to Corfu due to bad weather, were told they should remain on the plane but the man allegedly tried to leave after an argument with his wife.

The man, aged 43, and his wife, 50, were offloaded from the flight and the husband charged.
