Uber warned it may be closed down by Taiwan authorities

Taiwan authorities could be set to boot ride sharing app Uber out of the country for misrepresenting its business.
Taiwan’s Investment Commission says the company registered itself as an Internet-based IT platform rather than a transport service.
Commission executive secretary Emile Chang said a final judgement will be made next week and the ultimate sanction could be to ban the service altogether.
"Taiwan’s government has communicated many times with Uber…The worst scenario is to order it to leave the market," Chang said.
Chang added that there is a protocol allowing Uber to appeal any decision.
Uber’s Taiwan general manager Likai Gu is hopeful Taiwan will ‘rule in favour of innovation.’
"We want to work with the Taiwanese government to help them understand the role of technology in creating economic opportunity and meeting the transportation needs of Taiwan," Gu said.
