Tourism New Zealand is to host a series of online training events or webinars for agents wanting to increase their destination knowledge.
The internet-based training allows agents to watch and listen to a live presentation online.
There will also be an interactive element to the events, allowing agents to ask questions. These will be answered live by the Tourism New Zealand presenter.
This is a new training avenue for Tourism New Zealand in the UK which allows the organisation to reach a larger numbers of agents than by using traditional ‘face to face’ training methods.
The first session is a basic introductory training run by Katherine Herbert, trade development consultant for Tourism New Zealand.
It will be held at 11.00 on March19 for approximately 30 minutes, covering a general overview of the country, top sales tips and most frequently asked questions by first time visitors.
Agents who take part in the first webinar will be entered into a prize draw and have the chance to win New Zealand wines.
The tourism body will be introducing a schedule of further webinar training with themes including nature & wildlife, Maori culture, luxury, as well as more specialist training from representatives from different regional tourism organisations for more in-dept focus.
Regional manager Europe Gregg Anderson said: “We understand agents’ time is precious and we are keen to offer a wide range of training options for them to fit into their busy schedules.
“We have used online training very successfully in our German and USA markets and we are really excited about the potential for us here in the UK.”
To take part, agents require is normal broadband internet access and a telephone to ring a toll free number.
