The strength of the dollar against the pound is helping boost British bookings to the US.
According to the latest figures from the US Department of Commerce, based on feedback from the travel trade, bookings were up between 4% and 9% in the second quarter compared to 2007.
According to the trade, the rise is also down to strong trade and consumer confidence for the US product.
Of the UK agents and tour operators questioned, 80% said bookings had increased.
Independent travel continued to grow at a faster pace than package travel.
The primary deterrent for bookings was reported to be the British economy.
Growth was expected to continue in the third and fourth quarters.
