Unaccompanied minor ‘was groped’ on flight
A 26-year-old man is due in court in the US later today after an unaccompanied minor was allegedly groped on an American Airlines flight from Dallas, Texas to Portland, Oregon.
A flight attendant reportedly noticed the 13-year-old girl with tears in her eyes and alerted the captain after learning the man allegedly leant against the girl and touched her knee and thighs.
The captain contacted authorities and the FBI arrested the man when the plane landed in Portland.
The man, Chad Cameron Camp, has been charged with abusive sexual contact.
The airline said it cannot comment on the specifics of the case, because it is under criminal investigation, but released a statement saying: "American cares deeply about our young passengers and is committed to providing a safe and pleasant travel experience for them."
A lawyer for the girl’s family told a TV station the victim does not want to travel on a flight ever again.
Reports of the incident come days after a father took out a law suit against Cathay Pacific.
As reported by TravelMole last week, the father is suing Cathay Pacific for failing to provide an unaccompanied minor service for his 12-year-old son who was flying to India alone.
