Uniform desire drives Japanese fantasies

TOKYO – Flight attendants working for bankrupt Japan Airlines have been warned not to sell their outfits online to uniform fetish fans.

London’s Daily Telegraph reports that the uniforms are incredibly popular items online, often commanding exorbitant prices.

The crisp, no-nonsense outfits appeal to male Japanese tastes.

They are in demand too in the local sex industry for customers keen on role-playing fantasies.

Shops sell a creditable imitation for a few thousand yen, but the real thing can fetch a fortune

The airline plans to shed more than 15,000 staff, including 1300 flight attendants, leading to fears that sacked stewardesses will look to make quick cash by selling of their outfits.

It says it is doing everything possible, including sewing a serial number into clothing, to stop the uniforms reaching the black market.

The problem also affects Japan’s other major carrier, All Nippon Airways, who put traceable computer chips into their uniforms to discourage their sale.
