United adds new Hawaii flights from Orange County
After a gap of nearly a decade, Orange County John Wayne International Airport has landed a nonstop route to Hawaii.
United Airlines will launch daily service from the LA area airport to Honolulu starting 6 May.
It will be the only current service connecting Orange County and Hawaii.
United was the last airline to offer Hawaii flights from Orange Country but discontinued it in 2012.
The airline also recently announced it is launching a first-ever service between Chicago and Kona as well as flights to Maui from Newark.
Including these new flights, United will offer nonstop service on over 20 routes between the mainland and Hawaii.
"Our new Hawaii routes from Chicago, Newark and Orange County, in addition to the dozens of flights United already operates from the mainland to Hawaii, offer travelers even more options and shorter travel times," said Patrick Quayle, United’s VP of International Network and Alliances.
United has been flying to Hawaii for more than 70 years and was the first carrier to operate flights to Kona and Maui from the mainland in 1983.
