United Airlines cutting more routes at Cleveland

United Airlines is again scaling back services from Cleveland Hopkins Airport with the end of nonstop flights to Las Vegas and St. Louis from May 4.
That will leave United with just 15 direct services from Cleveland, after reducing its network by more than 70% in just two years.
"We continually review supply and demand for service in all of our markets. We made the difficult decision to end service between Cleveland and our St. Louis and Las Vegas routes because they didn’t meet our expectations and are no longer sustainable," United spokesman Jonathan Guerin said.
United has ended direct flights to more than 40 cities from Cleveland since early 2014 including Baltimore, Atlanta, Kansas City, New Orleans and Phoenix.
However Cleveland fliers will still have options to fly direct to both St Louis and Las Vegas.
Southwest Airlines recently announced it would begin St Louis flights from June and the Las Vegas route is already served by Frontier, Spirit and Southwest.
Guerin said the Houston market would also see some flight reductions due to the slump in oil prices.
