A United Airlines flight attendant who deployed a plane’s emergency evacuation slide after it landed without incident has been fired.
In a bizarre incident which was caught on video, the flight attendant threw her bag out, slid own the chute and calmly walked off the tarmac.
The plane had landed at Houston and was preparing to deplane passengers normally.
"We hold our employees to the highest standards. This unsafe behavior is unacceptable and does not represent the more than 20,000 flight attendants who ensure the safety of our customers. We are reviewing this matter and the flight attendant is no longer employed by United," a statement said.
The flight had arrived in Houston from Sacramento and was carrying 159 passengers and six crew members.
It was then taken out of service briefly for maintenance checks.
