United Airlines reaches settlement with family of puppy that died in overhead bin
The family whose puppy died on a United Airlines flight after they were instructed to place it in an overhead bin has reached a settlement with the airline.
The family’s attorney Evan Oshan said the terms of the settlement remain confidential.
"We are deeply sorry for this tragic accident and have worked with the Robledo family to reach a resolution," said United spokesman Charles Hobart.
The incident sparked a thorough review of its animal transit policy, including emotional support pets as well as animals in the cargo hold.
"In March, we began a comprehensive review of our transportation of animals. We also recently announced our collaboration with American Humane to make significant improvements in our program and adhere to the best practices of animal comfort," Hobart added.
The French bulldog named Kokito was found to be dead when the flight landed.
