United announces China flight restart
United Airlines plans to resume flying to China on July 8.
It will restart flights from San Francisco to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport with a connection via Seoul, South Korea.
The carrier has been flying to Shanghai for 30 years and operated up to five flights a day between the US and Shanghai before the pandemic.
"Resuming service to Shanghai from the United States is a significant step in rebuilding our international network," said United vice president Patrick Quayle.
United will operate Boeing 777-300ER jets on the route twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Rival Delta Air Lines just restarted Shanghai flights from Seattle.
United also resumes flights between Chicago and Tokyo later in July with a new service to Haneda Airport, and will restart Singapore flights.
