United announces largest ever South Pacific expansion
United Airlines unveiled its largest ever South Pacific network expansion.
It includes its first non-stop New Zealand flights to Christchurch from San Francisco starting on December 1.
United will be the only carrier to directly connect the US and the South Island.
With 66 flights every week, United will operate nearly 40% more Australia and New Zealand flights next winter versus last year.
The carrier is adding new direct flights from Los Angeles to Brisbane and Auckland.
It is increasing service from its San Francisco hub with daily flights to Brisbane, twice daily flights to Sydney and larger aircraft to Melbourne.
United’s partnerships with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia offer travelers easy one-stop connections from these cities to over 50 destinations.
United says it flies to more destinations in Australia and New Zealand than all other US carriers combined.
Tickets are now on sale on the airline’s mobile app and on United.com.
” United enhanced our network and became the largest carrier to the South Pacific region. Now we will expand even further,” said Patrick Quayle, SVP, Global Network Planning.
“Our strong partnerships with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia provide unparalleled connectivity.”
