United Airlines has extended flight cancelations of its Boeing 737 Max planes through August 3.
It has removed the jets from its schedules until then, extending it from early July.
It falls into line with the other 737 Max customers Southwest and American which have removed the jets from schedules into August.
United said it will result in about 2,400 peak summer season flight cancellations over the next two months.
Acting FAA Administrator Daniel Elwell says a comprehensive review of a new software update will take place but there is still no timeline for when it will be recertified.
Elwell said the FAA hasn’t made a decision on the extent of pilot retraining, which could yet include lengthy simulator training.
The FAA hosted a meeting last week in Texas, with dozens of avaition officials from more than 30 countries to discuss the way forward in analyzing Boeing’s changes to the Max.
The flawed flight-control software has been tied to two crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia which killed 346 people.
