United rewards hackers for finding security flaws

Friday, 17 July 20153 min read

United Airlines has given the maximum reward to two hackers who spotted security flaws in its website.

It has rewarded the technology experts with a million free flight miles each under its ‘bug bounty’ scheme.

The scheme is designed to encourage hackers to privately pass on security oversights rather than sharing them online.

The flights miles are worth dozens of flights.

In return, the hackers are not allowed to ever reveal the nature of the security flaws they discovered.
