Universal has offered a sneak peek at the upcoming Volcano Bay water park with a promise of no long lines waiting to ride the slides.
The company didn’t elaborate on how it hopes to shorten lines but ‘ we won’t hold it back in other places’ if it proves a success, said Frank Belzer, Universal Orlando’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Belzer unveiled new renderings at the IPW travel trade show in New Orleans.
"We did a lot of research before building it and wanted to make sure we were building something that answered a lot of people’s reservations about water parks. People didn’t like standing in long lines in the baking sun. They want to relax, not lug tubes around and the food is not usually great. We addressed a lot of that."
The centerpiece of the 28-acre park is the volcano which has cascading waterfalls during the day and glowing lava by night.
There will be multi-rider raft rides and body slides, wave pools and a lazy river.
In addition a ‘state-of-the-art marquee attraction’ will be unveiled in the coming months.
In all, there will be 18 attractions across four themed areas.
It is located next to Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
Universal said it will soon introduce a new three-Park Explorer ticket including Volcano Bay for use from June 1, 2017, which will be available for sale soon.
