Monday, 28 December 20153 min read
After being put on hold for over three years, a project for a South Korean Universal theme park is being revived.
A group of Korean and Chinese companies will develop and build the park which has a tentative opening date of 2020.
State-run Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water) will lead the development along with Daewoo Engineering & Construction and Dohwa Engineering of Korea, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation and Hong Kong-based China Travel Service.
The park will include a Universal Studios park, hotels, a golf course, K-Pop concert arena and a water park.
"The realization of an international theme park is now a step closer," said K-Water CEO Choi Gye-woon.
"I hope the central government and private sector’s cooperation will successfully carry out the project, which will likely create jobs while lifting up the regional economy."
K-Water estimates the final cost of development and construction at around $4.25 billion.
