Up to 109 million Americans expected to travel for holidays
AAA expects as many as 109 million Americans will hit the road or fly during the Christmas and New Year week. It would be just under the pre-pandemic record of 119 million of Christmas 2019.
From December 23 to January 2, about 6.4 million passengers will fly, which is about triple the number from the pandemic-ravaged Christmas of 2020.
Transportation Security Administrator David Pekoske expects December 23 and January 3 to be the busiest days at the nation’s airports.
