At least five people died when a whale-watching boat sank in a popular tourist destination off the coast of western Canada.
The boat, which was carrying 27 people, went down near Tofino on Vancouver Island, said the BBC.
Sea conditions at the time were reported to be calm, so the reason for the boat sinking isn’t known.
Some 21 people onboard were picked up by emergency rescue boats following a mayday call by Leviathian II yesterday afternoon, but one other person was still missing today.
The nationalities of the victims haven’t been released.
The 65ft boat was operated by Jamie’s Whaling Station and Adventure Centers, which has been operating for 30 years.
