A US Airways flight headed for Philadelphia turned back over the Atlantic and diverted to Dublin, Ireland after several members of the flight crew were struck down with a mystery illness.

The Airbus A330 which left Venice carrying 185 passengers, was rerouted to Dublin when nine crew reported ‘nausea, dizziness and streaming eyes.’

No passengers or pilots reported any illness, a US Airways spokesman said.

The plane made an emergency landing at Dublin and emergency services were placed on alert.

The affected flight crew were taken to a local hospital for treatment while passengers were accommodated overnight in the city.

The US National Transportation Safety Board and the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit are investigating.

Officials have not made public the reasons for the sickness among the flight crew.
