Saturday, 06 Apr, 2004 0

MidAtlantic Airways, US Airways’ new regional jet division, took flight 4 April. Starting flights were out of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Routes include Pittsburgh to Albany, Atlanta, Boston and Nashville; and service from Philadelphia to Kansas City and Syracuse. MidAtlantic initially will have three Embraer 170 regional jets operating on eight routes. The number will increase in May to 13, and swell to 24 by June, according to the airline. By the end of the year, MidAtlantic says it expects to be flying 39 jets. Eventually, 85 planes are planned for the service. –Report by David Wilkening–
