US confirms tightened travel testing
The US administration has tightened travel rules to the U.S., requiring all inbound international passengers to test for Covid within 24 hours of departure.
It takes effect on Monday and is aimed at curbing the spread of the Omicron variant. The US is one of 23 countries to identify cases.
President Joe Biden also extended the TSA federal mask mandate on planes and public transportation through March 18.
"This variant is a cause for concern, but not panic," Biden said.
