The US administration announced the upcoming end to Covid vaccine requirements for inbound international travelers.
It takes effect on May 12, which is when the Covid-19 public health emergency is set to end.
The vaccination rule has been in place since the US reopened borders nearly 18 months ago.
“We applaud the administration for taking this important step which is consistent with what the travel industry and public health experts have encouraged for months,” the US Travel Association said.
“The action to lift the vaccine requirement eases a significant entry barrier for many global travelers.”
“This will move our industry and country forward.”
UK specialist operator Ocean Florida also hailed the news.
“We’ve witnessed 20% of our cancellations since borders opened to customers being unvaccinated,” co-CEO Harry Hastings said.
“The lifting of these restrictions is an extremely welcome move and marks a great day after a turbulent few years for the travel industry.”
