US retaliates by suspending China flights
The US Department of Transportation is suspending 44 flights from the US operated by Chinese airlines in a tit-for-tat retaliation.
China recently cancelled the same number of flights of US carriers due to those flights carrying Covid-19 positive passengers. The US suspended flights from January 30 to March 29 on Xiamen, Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.
China’s policy of imposing a temporary flight ban if an airline brings in positive passengers is nothing new. China has issued short bans to dozens of airlines for more a year.
