Valadoo, Burufly merge to form Indonesian OTA
Indonesian vacation booking platform Valadoo and social travel website Burufly have announced a successful completion of a merger to create a new Indonesia based online travel agency.
New OTA Valadoo.com will target the 18-35 year old segment offering travel packages which will focus on Indonesia and Southeast Asia alongside selected global destinations.
Burufly’s travel social network will be integrated into the new site for travelers to connect and share trip planning and travel experiences.
Burufly has over one million registered members and claims to be the largest social travel community in Asia.
Burufly founder Pete Goldsworthy will assume the role of chairman of the merged company and Jaka Wiradisuria will continue as CEO of Valadoo.
"I’m particularly pleased by the depth of talent and complementary strengths of the Valadoo and Burufly teams who combined are really an Indonesian online travel dream team", said
Wiradisuria.
Google Travel OTA and Accommodation Research statistics showed 52% of transactions in Indonesia were made by 18 to 35-year olds and generally book budget to 3 star accommodations.
The study says this segment is most likely to book online and be influenced by social media and online reviews, and will be actively targeted by Valadoo.
