Vietnam tourist arrivals up 10 percent this year

Vietnam attracted 12.9 million foreign visitors so far this year, posting 10.8% growth.

The General Statistics Office said foreign arrivals from within Asia saw the highest growth of 12.5% in the first nine months of 2019, followed by Africa, the Americas and Europe.

The September figure of 1.56 million was the fourth month this year total monthly arrivals has surpassed 1.5 million.

Vietnam still hopes to reach its target of 17.5-18 million international visitors by the end of 2019, National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said, with projected tourism spending of VND 700 trillion.

Last week VNAT signed a cooperation agreement with the Digital Economy Agency to develop advanced technology and an e-commerce strategy to support the country’s tourism development.
