Virgin America is adding more daily cross-country flights from Newark to the West Coast.
From November 18 the carrier will increase services to Los Angeles and San Franciso ‘to offer our guests even more choice when traveling from the East Coast with up to 25 flights departing the New York metropolitan area each day,’ said Virgin’s director of network planning Adam Green.
"Our transcontinental schedule is also focused on convenience—we have timed the flights so that guests don’t have to travel too early in the morning or too late in the evening," Green added.
Virgin flies to all three New York area airports – JFK, LaGuardia and Newark.
With the additional frequencies, Virgin will offer 10 flights a day from LAX to the New York area and nine from San Francisco.
Meanwhile Virgin’s space tourism business Virgin galactic has gained the green light to continue testing its rocket-powered aircraft following a fatal crash in 2014.
The company received authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration which ‘contains certain terms and conditions’ to be met before commercial flights are allowed.
